Too Early (Blogophilia 24.8)

4:29 AM, Monday morning.

Or as we like to call it at my house, way damn too early. I'm waiting for my wife to get ready for work. So, I waste my time surfing Facebook and the various news sights. The smell of fresh brewed coffee trying its best to wake me up. I add a bit of sugar and taste the bittersweet brew as it warms my insides. You wonder why I do this? Well, for one, my wife doesn't drive anymore due to medical reasons. But, she still has to get to work. Therefore, here I am.

I hear the dryer tumble with the load of laundry my night owl son put on before he went to bed, probably an hour before we woke up. Ah, it just shut off, so now I can think about what I really am writing.

I usually leave the computer on so I don't have to wait for it to boot. It seems to be more efficient. It is almost as grumpy as I am to be woken up in a room where you can't see the shoes lined up at the front door. I call up the local news station. Long ago, I named their news "The Evening Body Count." There might be one uplifting story in an hour broadcast. Otherwise, it is death, destruction and general human failings. The same melancholy song played by the fallen angels throughout history. I make a note to quit watching to improve my mood, but I'll ignore it.

I feel the keys as I fly around the board. Over the years, I have developed a fairly good speed, as least for a guy. Ideas clash and I make edits on the fly. That doesn't make sense. Did I really leave that word out? Yes, KennyKat, I'll feed you. Is it really trash day? Consciousness slowly lights my mind up like the dawn...

Yes, Dear?  No, I don't know where your shoes are....

Oh, well.

Got to go.

  2. Just another manic monday. I have similiar situations, my wake up time is longer than my computers which takes sometimes 2 hours depending on how many updates it decides to do, so I also leave it up. The news here is better than there as there is less killing, perhaps one a day, but still that is too much to digest on a Monday morn. Enjoyed this

  3. I look forward to Monday mornings as that is when people start posting for the new week's challenge. Maybe not so much mornings as Monday itself. Sometimes folks will post on Sunday, which is an added perk, especially when I have nothing to do and someone gives me something to read! You sound like you're off to a good start, but probably by the time you read this, you'll be winding down your day.I guess I better get on with it as it's just noon here, so I have a ways to go!

By the way, 8 points, Earthling! :)

  4. Lol!! You waste your time on Facebook. I did not like facebook again it first started. I thought it was a waste of time posting what you doing, where you're going, how you feel, every mother minute of the day but apparently there are a lot of folks who do just that!

I agree on the news. I don't like listening to it except to know the weather otherwise it's so gory.

Liked how you met the challenge this week!!

    Let's

    1. Again should be when and delete the word mother. Auto correct has a mind of its own even after I tell it that I don't want their word but they put it in anyway! Leta

  5. My daughter is a night owl too. During holidays and summer breaks, she'll stay awake until 7:00 in the morning, then sleep all day. She'll have to get her schedule turned about around soon, though, as school's just around the corner. And I'm with you on the news thing - I don't watch it on TV, but stopped reading it online because it was all either depressing stories, or the stupidly outrageous.

  6. I love 4:30 in the morning, I spend it here (online) as well. Something to do as a drink my two cups of coffee. Trust me the roads wouldn't be safe if I didn't have that coffee.

  7. I seem to recall a distant time in my past when this was the hour of awakening, but thankfully, I got past that. I like it better, when I see you in the morning as I am retiring for the evening.

  8. I have never been a morning person, more of an afternoon/evening creature. Not truly a night owl, but do need at least 1 cup of coffee before I can even think straight in the mornings. Loved this slice of life...so real, so vivid! :)

  9. I do so enjoy that morning coffee -- makes whatever else might happen at least somewhat more tolerable. I'm much more a morning person than night owl. Wonderful post!

  11. I just put my computer to sleep. It's better than turning it off and on.
