Back to Normal Traffic (Blogophilia 15.5)

Let's talk numbers. In a normal month, I usually average 400 reads a month, which isn't too bad for this antiquated format. I have a few really popular posts, but the average new post gets about 20 reads in the first week. Since I never have monetized either this blog or the WordPress model, the fact I am not one of the cool kids really doesn't bother me.  But the last few months have been crazy. A bunch of nosy neighbors from Poland and Singapore have been passing my URL around. You have to wonder why? I'm a third tier writer who only does this for fun. I'm not writing political screeds condemning the current situation or steamy sex romps where everyone looks like Barbie, Ken, and GI Joe. I just write what it is on my mind. It might be where I sample durian fruit or fried alligator tail. Or describing my house after a power outage where I have to maneuver by candlelight. Whatever, it seems to be working. I hope they keep coming back.

Father's Day (WWG 1.14)

Father's Day. My kids took care of me last week. The ribs were good, and the bourbon was better.  My own father has been gone for a while. Not perfect, but he did his best under trying circumstances. As I have gotten older, I'm not as hateful toward chores. But I still don't like general grocery shopping.  As I put this together, I think about my fictional family, the Morrises, and wonder how Emily and Charlie would surprise their Mommy and Daddy on this day? Maybe I'll work that up.

Looking back (Blogophilia 15.8)

Shifting through the sands of time? It is the raîson d'etre for my writing. Every week I round up the usual suspects and grill them on the prompts. Characters based loosely on life. Sometimes I think it is the beginning of a beautiful friendship . Other times, they claim I despise them.  Truth is, if I gave them any thought, I would. I let them kiss as if it were their last time. Sometimes it is. They come to me as ghosts in the deep woods . As Little Red Riding or Alice in Wonderland . Early on, the text was laid naked with little editing. Now, it is fussed over like a fashion model. Trying for the "just so" look. Early clowning is now more circumspect. I am older. There seems to be less to laugh about. And that is sad. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Topic-Dave Coon Pic-Irene Melgoza Pic guesses: Alice in Wonderland (in blog), Little Red Riding Hood (in blog) Deep Woods (in blog), G...
