Feet of Clay (Blogophilia 48.5)

He came with feet of clay
Another claiming he's the next coming
Circumstances horrific
Turning golden,
Shining in the sun
Trumpets and pipes
Heralding triumph
Celebrating victory
Until...
Like all the others
Triumph is hollow
Victory is false
As he falls under the weight
Of betrayal and lies
But when faith dies,
There is always hope
Knowing
He came with feet of clay

    1. It is. One of the "benefits" of the instant world we live in is very little can remain hidden.

    1. There are a lot modern athletes in this boat. Victory is everything. The journey there, nothing.

  3. When faith is broken it is hard to ever restore, but at the same time everyone seems to start with the benefit of the doubt in their favor.

  5. Proof positive that we are such flawed beings.... and hindsight is 20/20. You would think we would be jaded by now, but most of us are creatures who always grasp for hope. But perhaps in the overall view this may be a good thing. Awesome, timely write! :D
