Lucky Me

In the Dallas Call Center.  Rrriinng. Good Morning and thank you for choosing Devil's Quill, my name is Solomon. How may I help you? No, I'm not THAT on. I'm a Bookie who didn't make the cut, Lucky me. What's that? Your husband is a chronic gambler who lost the house in a poker game? Yes, I am a specialist in that, let me look up the records. Oh, my. Two kids? And you were in the hospital when it happened?  I would have broken his legs before I let him place that bet when I was topside, the Cad. We need to get you back to the Green green grass of home, don't we? Let me look at the Rabbit's Foot menu first. We have an Insurance program that would return most of your equity, but it would require some...hard action against your husband. Yes. That kind of action. Honestly, Ma'am, it doesn't appear like he's much of a father right now, does it? I understand your need for a second opinion, let me recommend a colleague of mine at the Guardian Angel age...

The scale is overwhelming Rows of marble stretching to the horizon Reminding us winter is coming. It comes to us all. We stand at ease, cooking in the heat Sweat pouring off brows watching the presentation Of a simple wreath, a ceremony of service. It has been eighteen years since the fateful day When the world changed. A sudden onslaught shows the evil of our being. We doubt the existence of Angels But for some it is enough to know Angels exist, And they dance a nd therein the end lies our hope For a future of peace. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Topic- Dave Coon Pic- Colleen Keller Breuning Pic guesses: Cool cat, waiting for service, servant!, social, Ginger, catnip coffee

Graveyard Everlasting (Blogophilia 35.10)

In an old cemetery on the outskirts of town, a buried couple is resting contently. From time to time, their conversation is heard through the light breeze. “A lovely night, Mary.” The man had a low nasally voice. “Air crisp with the coming cold. Look at the magical colors in the leaves. And the moon, when have we seen it so full?” A birdlike voice replied. “It’s beautiful, Liam, so full and illuminating. Almost like our first night together, remember?” A small chuckle. “Halloween and you were dressed as a the good witch, all in white.” “And you were the Vampire, ready to bleed me blue .” She turned toward her husband. “You asked for my hand and I gave you my heart. Mmm...such a wonderful night.” They gazed contently over the field. Liam turned to his mate. “Mary, may I say I've never wanted another woman?” “You are still so sweet.” She paused, “I certainly never needed another man. Even old, you were clever and reliable. I'm so thankful we ...

Another Drunk Entertainment Type

Another Drunk Entertainment Type. So, today's clay feet belong to Shia LeBoeuf. Old Beefy got marinated on River Street in Savannah and managed to make enough of an ass out of himself to get checked into jail. Sadly this isn't his first rodeo. Reality is slapping him hard this time, though. I hope he wakes up. But, if he doesn't, Bonaventure Cemetery has a plot waiting.

Here we are Alone. Meeting after so many years Why so long? I speak to my friends In this new-fangled online market, I have not set foot here in years It's a lonely, lovely place, I know. Children scattered To the four winds. Not knowing whether  they are alive. Now I come to see you A Sphinx. Not sure why. Maybe to bask in the silence Of the relatives I never knew, And the few I did.   Austen said To look upon verdure was the greatest refreshment. But the oaks and moss Only remind me  Of past time wasted, Time was supposed to explain. Ain't no use complainin' Time to move on.

Mists rise over the bluff And past the moss Forming tears on the Faded, dark marble. A mute testament, She stands as a reminder Of the transitory nature Of existence.
