Bat Cave (Blogophilia 18.18)

High in Hickory Nut Gorge
The natives
Watching for the bats

The spirits of the ancestors
Tied to the land

They lived in the high caves
Their swarms warned of
Monsters, like black cats seeking mice

They came in due time
Took the land
Drove the families far away.

Sin returned by bigger cats
The cave so full
Crashed down in the rain.
