After School With Mom. (Blogophilia 14.37)

Emily came in from school and found her mother at the living room table with a bunch of pieces of paper scattered in front of her

"Hi, Mom." picking up one of the pieces. "Whatcha doin'?"

"I'm trying to decide what color to paint the living room." She gave her daughter a hug, "Do you want to help?"

"Sure" Throwing her book bag on the sofa, Emily pulled up a chair and looked at the piece of paper in her hand.

"Char...trise?"

"Chartreuse, Honey."

Emily made a face. "Yuck, that looks like baby barf." She tossed it down and pick up the one next to it. "This one is called Seaform."

Mom looked at the chip. "Too light, Your Brother would mess that up in one day. I've got this one, Kelly Green."

"That's the same color as the guy on the Lucky Charms box." Emily giggled. "And it's making me hungry."

"You'll ruin super." She said without looking up.

"Aw, Mom." Emily put the piece down. "We learned about St. Patricks Day in school."

"Really? Your Daddy and I used to have a lot of fun on that day."

"Yeah, everything turns green and people say things like 'Top o' the morning." and stuff." She picked the Kelly Green chip back up. "Mikey said something that sounded like mumbles that got him sent to the Principal's office."

"Oh, wow," Mom replied. "I wonder what that was?

"Ms. O'Leary wouldn't say. Just that it was very rude and not keeping with a civil tongue."

Mom smiled. She knew exactly what Mikey had said. She had said it to a couple of boys who wanted to date her over the years and watched the confusion on their faces. And she knew better than to repeat it. Both kids would say it loud and proud.

"Go start your homework. Daddy is going to be late tonight and Charlie is at Grandma's. So, it will be just us. "

"Cool. Can we make green cookies? Emmy grabbed the book bag.

"Sure. Just let me see your assignment when you're done."

"O.K."
