Another Night (Blogophilia 16.6)

Another night
We meet
Knowing it is wrong
Others depend on us
Others want our time
But we steal away
Here to the belfry
The finest of hours
As the others
Sell the sky.
You fall on me.

Two against
Disapproving eyes
Serious case
Of Affection
Against the powers
Of Minitrue
And Doublespeak.

Consequences
Tasting like
Pecan rinds
Drying my mouth
As rats
Nibble at noses.
Should I die?
Yes.

  1. You describe a typical back street affair to perfection, Christopher. Fascinating... I need to hear a steel guitar.

    1. There isn't anything quite like getting a piece of the rind when you are cracking and eating fresh pecans. You almost never want to touch them again.

  3. The consequences of such an affair are overwhelming. That last stanza was quite unexpected and very thought provoking.

    1. Thank you. Now, quick quiz. It isn't an original story. Where did I pull it from?

    1. I've always had it drilled into me to write in as few words as possible. Just a habit.
