Musings....(Blogophilia 24.5)

I was working on a poem for this week's entry and I decided to stop.  I may finish it later and put it up, but it occurred to me that the whole point of the topic is tossing an arrogant insult to someone in power.  The whole quote "Stand a little out of my sun." is Diogenes adroitly telling Alexander the Great he wasn't so great and that he would bow to him.  How many times have you wanted to say that to your boss?  To your significant other?  That I don't have to be the subservient one? Most jobs are like a Bronc busting event anyway.  The conditions are constantly shifting while you hang on for dear life.  And there is always an audience of screaming baboons there wishing for your fall.

The best you can hope for is to be a Troubadour and a Troublemaker.  Part of you hypnotizing the crowd with your voice while the other part throws the obstacles back at the monkeys and politicians in your way.

    If that isn't the most accurate description of modern working life I don't know what is. Great observations.

      Yeah, I've had my job description changed six times in the last 18 months. Seems like I up high in the air most of the time.

      Yes, I did. I did community theater up until the kids came. Then I didn't have the rehearsal time. If I can kick them out, maybe I'll go back.

    Great take on the topic expounding on the employer-employee relationship. Can't stand being employed. Can't stand being a wife either,lol! Some people just can't be bossed around I guess and I admire those employers who can run a company without being bossy, getting angry,manipulative. Just enough to exert authority but different businesses require different maneuvering at times.

The Date (Blogophilia 13.5)

So, here she was at Manuel’s, her usual fifteen minutes early.   A quick glance to make sure the lipstick line was still straight.   Satisfied, the compact disappeared into the leather purse.   Kari hadn’t been this nervous meeting anyone in quite a long time.   But then, it had been at least 20 years since she had been on a blind date.   What will he look like?   All Mary told her was he was a bachelor with a paying job and no kids.    Nothing about how old, or whether he was a slob or a crackhead.   Not even the guy’s name.   Only that she thought Kari would enjoy his company.     Just be at there at 5:30.
