Winter Symphony (Blogophilia 25.17)

An illusion.

Styrofoam snow

And vinyl greens

We say we honor the spirit

We honor the material

Commercials for cars

The latest distraction

Of the banquet table

Stretched to the horizon.

We starve

Our elbows are locked open

While the snow falls

And the fire rages

Thinking we are the lucky man.

  1. Indeed, methinks somewhere along the way that the true meaning of Christmas has been lost. Everything artificial, commercial, and leaving one feeling hollow inside at times. An excellent poem of truth that speaks volumes! KUDOS Dear Earthling and Merry Christmas!
