A Saturday Afternoon.

I'm sitting here and it is time for a rant.

First Saturday in a while I haven't had to run all over town. My yard is a mess and I'm too lazy to deal with it. My Yuppie neighbors can just deal with it.

Spent the morning working with my son's car. A 1981 El Camino that had spent some time being a low rent low rider.  Mechanically, the car is pretty sound. The interior looks like Gaza.  I think it's going to be a fun project.

One of my son's friends was killed in an apparent sour drug deal the other day. The kid had been one of my Cub scouts back in the day, but had drifted off track like a lot of Hispanic kids. They see the flash of the Gangbangers and think that is much cooler that what I have. Easy pickings for the evil.  All I can do is shake my head. I had a couple of close calls back in the day and buried friends, too. Eventually we wake up. But for some of us, the revelations come too late.

Then you have the Yuppies who have gentrified the neighborhood. They get on websites like Nextdoor and rant about the immigrants, and that we should tear down this or that old complex to get rid of the scum. Folks, the immigrants have been coming to Chamobdia for the last thirty years. Buford Highway is the Yellow Brick Road.  If you want all the area to look the same, move to a homogenous suburb like Dunwoody or Marietta. The variety this area has is what people move to cities for.

And on top of that, our hand basket has been delivered. Let's all get in and watch the powers that be with their shell games.

    1. Thanks. Some days it's just better to rant. You are new. Snoop around a bit.

  2. I live across the road from a cemetery. Talk about a quiet neighborhood...

I hope you got that out of your system. Not much of a rant, coming from you. More of a segmented spasm... Hey, I have seen you really mad, and that is a scary thing.

    1. I should be more angry about the young man dying. But I watched him over the last few years bouncing around with no direction. It was bound to happen.

  3. I am so sorry to hear about the death of that young man. Sadly, it is ALL around us, but it certainly hits heavy when so close to home. My condolences. :(

And rants are certainly therapeutic when properly channeled!

    1. This is the fourth funeral my younger son has gone to. He's beginning to look over his shoulder.
