Tumblr Cheerleaders (Blogophilia 16.7)

Flickering across his eyes
Cheerleaders, far from their pyramid days
No skirts
Just themselves
Kodachromed reverse images
Of fans' fantasy.

Quarterback's leather jackets bind them
Disembodied hands stroke satin skin
Squirming, eyes pleading
For escape or release
To regain control.

To survive and return to a duty
Spurned and unanswered
Through coercion or rebellion
Whichever
It doesn't matter.

Just to return
To love.

    1. Oh, great, and the silly one stayed, for all the world to view...

  2. Okay, I am seeing a good old fashioned roughy tumble in this piece. And, I tend to sit back and cheer them on.

I am also reminded, I wish I could still hit a baseball, or a softball, or a wiffle ball...

    1. Rough tumble for everyone to see. When I run across them, I always wonder if the woman realizes they are out there.

    1. He'll be back. I need to work on some logistics for the next segment, so I wasn't horribly worried when the prompts came up.

  7. Yes...cheerleaders are an odd lot...seems some remain perpetual Babies trying to relive their youth...while others realize...it's only a game...and how it plays out...is (eventually) only up to them. Enjoyed :-)
